Easy Tropical Smoothie Jars: A Healthy Treat For Busy Moms

Let’s admit it - eating healthy can be time-consuming. We need to go to the grocery, prepare, and cook meals. Sometimes it’s so easy to be tempted and to just reach for a take-out… but don’t! Being a busy mom means we have to take good care of ourselves and our bodies even more! It’s important to get all the right nutrients in our meals by consuming lots of fruits and vegetables. Also, we want to be good examples to our little ones when it comes to eating the good stuff.

Today we’ve got a healthy snack that you can prepare in advance and enjoy later in little to no time (yay!). This is a great recipe for the busy moms out there. You can prepare this 5 days before consumption. Have it as your breakfast, snack, or as the healthy drink that accompanies your meal.

Save time by eating lots of fruits and veggies in one sip! Enjoy all the nutrients you can get from our easy tropical smoothie jars. This is quick, simple, healthy, and oh-so-tasty.

What you’ll need (this makes one jar):

A mason jar

2 large handfuls of spinach

3 stalks of celery

½ a cucumber

1 cup frozen pineapple

1 banana

1 spoonful of coconut oil

2 cups pineapple juice

1-2 cups water

Optional: 1 TBSP of hemp hearts

Before we get started, let’s briefly talk about the benefits you can get from this green smoothie.

Pineapple Juice

A great source of vitamin C, which boosts our immunity. It’s heart-friendly too.

Cucumber

Full of nutrients, high in fiber, and low in calories! It promotes hydration, may aid in weight loss and lowers the blood sugar level.

Celery

Celery is a rich source of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. It’s also high in fiber, making it a popular low-calorie snack.

Spinach

This is a well-known superfood. It packs a lot of nutrients and improves hair, skin, and overall body health. It helps lower blood sugar levels and prevents cancer, too.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is also a superfood. It contains fatty acids that encourage your body to burn more fat, boost heart health, and boost the immune system.

Hemp Hearts

This is a great source of plant-based protein. It promotes heart health, reduces the risk of Type 2 Diabetes, and promotes stronger bones.

Let’s get started!

Let’s start with the jar. Take the lid off and make sure that it’s clean. You can make as many smoothies as you want, depending on the number of your mason jars and your available ingredients. Pour approximately 2 cups of fresh pineapple juice in each smoothie jar. This will be the source of that yummy, tropical taste, and will also serve as the main sweetener for this refreshing drink. The juice will also preserve the veggies for quite a bit (thanks sugar!) so that the nutrients are kept and you can store it in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Next, put half a cucumber in each mason jar. Cut up the cucumber into small pieces so that it can be blended easily. This gives a refreshing taste to the smoothies.

Next up are celery stalks! Put 3 sliced stalks of celery in each jar. Make sure it fits inside. Celery has a lot of amazing health benefits, so make sure to include this in your recipe.

We have to make sure that all the vegetables are submerged in the juice so all of it can be preserved. Add a bit of water into the mason jar if your vegetables are not completely submerged. This will balance out the sweetness of the pineapple juice as well. Put the lid back on and shake the jar so that everything gets mixed up.

The flavors of the pineapple juice, cucumber, and celery stalks will infuse and it will have this amazing, tropical taste that’s just so good and so refreshing. Who says eating healthy has to be bland and difficult?

Leave out 1 smoothie jar and put the rest in the fridge. You can have it whenever you want, just make sure to consume it within 5 days. Now, take the smoothie jar you put aside and pour everything into a blender (I use Blendtec Blender). Add a sliced banana into the mix. Also add a cup of frozen pineapple slices and a bunch of spinach leaves (you can use kale instead, but please note that it has a stronger taste). Then add a spoonful of coconut oil.

Now, for the finale - let’s blend everything! You can also add a tablespoon of hemp hearts into the mix so you can have some protein and a healthy amount of fat.

Serve and drink while it’s cold. Enjoy your healthy smoothie, and simply repeat the process with the remaining smoothie jars for a treat!

To the moms out there, let’s all stay healthy!
