Diana: Okay, ladies if you listen to last week’s podcast, I shared a little bit about how I did a bunch of planning, a bunch of work, delegated different things to different people, so that I could have some space to recover, to enjoy life for a minute, to enjoy my new born. And I snuggled the crap out of her.
And I still am… I’m snuggling the heck out of her. She’s so cute. But man, I milked those six to eight weeks with her and just have fully enjoyed her. She is just absolutely glorious. Her name is Ivy. Again, be looking for the birth story in the near future.
But the main thing that I really noticed from this time is, yes, I gave myself time off. I took the pressure off. I had no commitments, that were like really serious… I’ve really just enjoyed the life, for the last couple of months, and did whatever I felt like doing… And didn’t have a lot of pressure, didn’t have a lot of those commitments.
So, I gave myself space. And I realized how important that is because… I mean, have I given myself space, other times? Is that the thing that was missing, after I started my business? After I started adding different things in… Was I giving myself enough space to enjoy motherhood? Was I giving myself enough space to feel complete fulfilment?
Now, did I not feel fulfilment? No. I did. I felt fulfilment. I felt enjoyment. But man, not like I just did this past couple of months. That was bliss. That was like, “Oh my gosh, this is exactly why I was bored. [chuckle] This is exactly what I should be doing in my life right now. This is where I’m suppose to be.” This is good. This is good stuff, man. Tasty. I love it.
I mean, just the fact… I don’t know. Just it gave me something that I have not experienced in a couple of years. When I started to get so busy, adding tons of things on to my plate, whatever. And the fact that my children are coming up to me just in random moments, right now, and be like, “Mommy, I just love you.”
And maybe your kids do that a lot, and not saying they haven’t done that for me before. But man, it’s increased to almost daily, that they have been giving me back these love and enjoyment. Because I’ve been having more fun with them. I’ve spent more time with them. I’ve been with them.
Now, now that I’m adding work again, I’m hiring a new nanny. I’m getting things going. How can I be more efficient with my time there? And while I am working? So that I don’t have to feel extra stressed or take extra time for my family or be thinking about other things while I’m with my family. It’s about focus and it’s about giving ourselves space to truly enjoy the moment.
So, I want you to think about that for you. What does that mean for you? How could you create that space to enjoy right where you’re at, right now? Either the job that you’re at, the home that you’re in, the family that you have, the situation you’ve been given. How can you give yourself more space to enjoy?
Now, that’s like relaxation. That’s taking off some pressure. How can you take off some pressure? How can you give yourself some space to truly enjoy what you have?
I want you to really dig in to that. Really think about that. How can I take off some pressure? How can I give myself space? Because it is human nature that all of us want to enjoy life. That all of us want to be happy. All of us want things to flow smoothly. I mean, wouldn’t it be great if it was all the time?
But I mean, it is those hard times that make us appreciate. Like, “Man, that was bliss... That was freaking good… That was a good moment. And I’m still riding in it and I want to stay in it as long as possible. And I’m going to do everything I can to prevent stress from coming in or prevent things from stepping on the toes of my special time with my family.”
So, what do you need to change in your life to take off some pressure? And how can you create space for you to thrive and love and enjoy what you’re doing. All I know is that creating space for myself created more beautiful fruit of joy, of peace, of bliss, of happiness, of relaxation than it has in a long time.
As we go about out week, how can we create space for enjoyment? How can we create a moment for ourselves to find that bliss again? And maybe you haven’t experienced it before. Can you create a moment for yourself to open it up to be able to feel the bliss, and the satisfaction and the fulfillment that can come from motherhood?
I believe in you and know that you can. And we’ll see you next Tuesday on The Mom Training Podcast.
